YouTube is a video site where anyone can upload videos and is open internationally for anyone to watch, comment, or like. A lot of the videos that is on the YouTube site is either paid by the actual company or the people who post it or else the video is uploaded by a third party. In this case, this video of Jennifer Grey was uploaded by ABC News, an interview about her life after Dirty Dancing and how she felt during the filming of the movie.
Jennifer Grey talks about her anxiety while filming the movie, especially with the dancing because she is not a dancer. After the movie she was very insecure about dancing because everyone knew she did the movie and she thought she was not going to be good enough to dance. Grey was scared of people comparing how she dances in real life to how she danced in the movie. As Grey grows older she felt really insecure with her looks and went on to have plastic surgery. Her 11 year old daughter noticed that in the movie and in real life she looked different, and Grey had told her daughter that she never felt pretty enough.
Grey just like her character 'Baby' was very shy, insecure and through Johnny did she grow and mature to have courage and stand up for what she thought was right. With Grey how ever it was after her plastic surgery and after she won the cup for "Dancing with the Stars" did she feel that the courage was inside her all along.
The video really helped me understand Jennifer Grey as a person in reality not just as a celebrity. Through this video I saw emotions in Grey that I would not be able to see through one of her movies. Instead of just reading, a video can really show you the voice of a person to understand how they really feel when they are talking.

Wow, it's cool to see how she felt while filming the video. It is also cool to learn that she is not a dancer but became one just like the storyline in the movie. I thought of all of the critiques and how most of them look at the acting and base the entire movie off of that so I can see how stressful that would be as an actor- especially when she is expected to be the beautiful dancer that her character is. She played the role of Baby amazingly, but the movie might not have been the best for her. I wonder why she didn't watch the movie and love it like most viewers. It seems like she just critiques herself too much.
ReplyDeleteI found it very interesting that she thought she wasn't pretty enough because as I watched the movie I thought she was quite pretty. Maybe she let other people's thoughts and opinions ruin her childhood because I don't think if she didn't have the plastic surgery she would still look beautiful even after believing she wasn't pretty. I also found interesting that she thought she couldn't dance because every dancer has to start out somewhere; you just aren't born with dancing abilities; you learn them and practice is what makes you a great dancer!
ReplyDeleteWow. I did not realize that she was afraid of all of that and how it took her being on Dancing with the Stars to realize that the courage she was seeking was inside of her all this time. I wish other people could realize the courage that they have inside of them and not be afraid to show it.
